End of the Year

May 18 and 19 we celebrated the end of our preschool year with 6 programs, all Western themed. The 3 year old classes 'hopped' into the 4's and our 4 year old classes held a graduation ceremony at the end of each program. We enjoyed singing Western and Patriotic songs, celebrating Jesus, our country and the wild west! Unfortunately I do not have pictures of all the programs, so if you have some good ones that you would like included, please submit to the school email address. Thanks!

Mothers Day Tea

On May 4th and 5th we were proud to invite our mothers and grandmothers to a special tea with all the 4 year old classes. Each class prepared songs and poems to present, as well as corsages, gifts and cards! Ladies from the church and Preschool Council were wonderful servers and bakers! Everyone had an especially good time, spending time with the people we love so much!!

Everyone enjoyed the great food! Some lovely ladies from Mrs. Johnson's class. Much thanks is due to the ladies from HBC, especially Frances Kennedy, our tea expert and organizer. Also thanks to Katie Duryea, Ellen Plagata and Jane Strong who all worked very hard for 2 days to make this event such a success.


Easter Parties at Preschool

Easter Parties were fun for everyone, as we colored eggs, went on egg hunts, learned the real Easter story, and played fun Easter games.

The 2's class enjoyed coloring eggs! Mrs. McNeil's morning class colored eggs, too! Of course we had great party food, like Mrs. Johnson's 4's class!

Mrs. Stettler's afternoon 3's played 'Pass the Egg' at their party! Mrs. McDannell's class made Easter collages and placemats. Mrs. Sicard's class made stained glass crosses, reminding us of the real meaning of Easter.


Dr. Suess Day

On March 2nd we celebrated Dr. Seuss Day... with Cat in the Hat hats, many Seuss stories and many children gave Green Eggs and Ham a try too!
Mrs. McNeil dons the Cat in the Hat Costume to celebrate the day with Paige! Mrs. Goff is set to welcome her class for a Seussical Day!
Mrs. Wilkens, aka The Cat in the Hat, helps Jenna and Joe with their special hats for Seuss Day! Emma says, " Green Eggs and Ham! I will not eat them, Sam I am! I will not eat them, even if my friend Brian is eating them!!"


Pajama Day at Preschool

The Preschool Staff wishes it was Pajama Day, EVERYDAY!

Mrs. McNeil and Brown's class enjoys a Pajama Dance Party! Mrs. McDannell and Mrs. Stone have a Wide Awake class on PJ Day! Mrs. Hewa and Marchand's class made their own homemade pizzas!

Valentines Day at Preschool

Valentine's Day at Preschool is always a great time for Moms and Dads to visit!

Mrs. Sicard's class made flower pots for parents and enjoyed a yummy feast of treats! Mrs. Johnson's 3 year old class enjoys their valentine treats. Mrs. Leger's 3 year old class....'put's their right leg in, takes their right leg out...', doing the Hokey-Pokey at their Valentine Party.

Kids In Motion

January didn't bring us any real snow to play in, so during our Kids In Motion class we made our own!! You can see the joy on the faces of these four year olds as they play and throw our pretend snow, then with the help of beautiful music, we twirled and danced like snowflakes, gently falling to the ground!


Crazy Hat Day

The 4's classes celebrated CRAZY HAT day in January....did you know there was a day set aside as National Hat Day?? Preschool never misses an opportunity to celebrate! Mrs. Wilken's afternoon 4's sported many school spirit shirts with their hats!


Mitten Day
The 3's class enjoyed their own celebration of Mitten Day...we wore mittens to do lots of activities, like these children in Mrs. Johnson's class, tossing marshmellow snowballs at Jolly the Snowman. It was harder to throw marshmellows with mittens on! Mrs. Dailey took cover behind Jolly!
Mrs. Goff's 3's also celebrated Mitten Day by reading the Big Book called "The Mitten", and then used a giant mitten,allowing the children to retell the story... how many animals snuggled inside the mitten??



Christmas Programs

Christmas in January...We held 3 of our programs after Christmas break due to weather closures in December.
The Afternoon 5 day 4's from Mrs. Wilkens and Mrs. Goff's classes did a super job! Landon, CJ and Matthew were awesome wisemen We sang Silent Night using sign language!
Malea soloed Happy Birthday Jesus. Haley reminded the shepherds to "Fear Not!" All 3 afternoon 3 day 4's classes performed together on January 6th!
Rohit, Tucker, Kirat and Rishiv sang their very best! A very serious group of Nativity actors! Mrs. Johnson sings "The Gift Goes On" with the children
James prepares to sing his solo! Mrs. Hewa and Mrs. Wilkens morning 4's did an excellent job on stage! Mary and Joseph, also known as Aubrey and Luke sang their best!

Thanksgiving Programs

Our Thanksgiving Programs for all 4 year old classes were held Nov 21st and 22nd in the Fellowship Hall. We enjoyed dressing up as Pilgrims and Indians, telling our moms and dads the real Thanksgiving Story, singing fun songs and then sharing delicious breads together as a family.

Harvest Hoedown

The 2nd annual Harvest Hoedown was a rootin'- tootin' good time for all. We welcomed 2 horses on Monday morning, Bucky and Chance. Chance came back for our afternoon classes and for our Tuesday Hoedown. We had terrific weather, and loads of awesome parent helpers! We made stick horses, art projects, played in the rodeo, hunted pumpkins, ate in the chuckwagon, sat on the tractor and rode horses!

On the search for the great pumpkin, Madison finds one hiding in the caterpillar! ....and Will finds his at the top of the slide! The 4's created their name in rope, like Kayla did here!
And Mrs. McNeil's 4's are working on Cow Seeds to plant at home! Jack Ryan and Kaitlin work on the Cow Seed packets ...while Jackson from Mrs. Goff's class glues his name
Everyone enjoyed dressing up like cowboys and girls...even Mrs. Dills!


Harvest Hoedown - Day 2

Our Hoedown continued on to Nov 1st with the 2 day 3 yr old classes... here are a couple of photos from their fun day:

Pumpkinville

All 144 four year olds, family members and teachers headed to Leesburg for a day at Pumpkinville. We enjoyed apples, hayrides, slides, the petting zoo, pony rides and many other activities...what a great time!!

Johnny Appleseed Day

In September we celebrated Johnny Appleseed's Birthday. We learned about apples, sorted them by color, graphed them by taste, counted seeds and ate apple-y snacks all week. Lots of apple projects and apple stories rounded out the week!



Fire Prevention

It's October, and that means it's Fire Prevention Month and time for our annual visit from the Gainesville Volunteer Firefighters! We enjoyed a great day learning about the truck and all the things it can do, hearing the siren, seeing the lights and then watching the firefighter get ready to go into a building that is on fire. We learned to stay low in smoke and if we are in danger, we should yell out for help.



Community Helper

Our community helper for September was the Police Officer. We were excited to welcome Officer Wrobels from the Fairfax County Police Department to visit our 3 year olds, and Officer Lawler from Manassas to visit our 4 year olds. We enjoyed meeting the officer, and learning about his car and his work. We know that police officers are friends, and we must always obey them.
